See Jude Law as Captain Hook in First ‘Peter Pan & Wendy’ Teaser (VIDEO)

Disney+ is off to Neverland in Peter Pan & Wendy. The live-action Peter Pan remake will hit the streaming service on Friday, April 28, and fans get a first glimpse at Jude Law’s Captain Hook and Yara Shahidi’s Tinkerbell in the first Peter Pan & Wendy teaser (above).

Peter Pan & Wendy introduces Wendy Darling, a young girl afraid to leave her childhood home behind, who meets Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to grow up,” Disney+ describes. “Alongside her brothers and a tiny fairy, Tinker Bell, she travels with Peter to the magical world of Neverland. There, she encounters an evil pirate captain, Captain Hook, and embarks on a thrilling and dangerous adventure that will change her life forever.”

In the teaser, released Tuesday, February 28, Wendy arrives in Neverland and meets The Lost Boys, but there are also girls in this group. Wendy questions this, to which the kids defiantly reply, “So?!”

Ever Anderson plays Wendy with Alexander Molony playing Peter. The young stars take center stage in the trailer, which features iconic film moments like meeting The Lost Boys and taking flight from the top of Big Ben. Shahidi’s green fairy is seen flying around throughout the clips, and Alyssa Wapanatâhk‘s Tiger Lily also lends a helping hand.

The special effects makes the kids and ships fly, bringing back the familiar feeling of wonder brought about in each Peter Pan iteration. (Visually, Peter Pan & Wendy looks more similar to the 2003 Peter Pan with Jeremy Sumter than Robin Williams‘ Hook.) Law creeps into the screen near the end of the fast-paced teaser.

“Wendy Moira Angela Darling,” he bodes while walking through a cave’s arch. “Where is Peter Pan?”

See Jude Law As Captain Hook In ‘Peter Pan & Wendy’ Trailer

The first movie based on author J. M. Barrie’s Peter and Wendy novel came out nearly 100 years ago. There have been plenty of adaptations since, including a pre-M3GAN Allison Williams taking Wendy to Neverland, “Rufio!”, and the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” sequence from Pan that I’m still convinced was a fever dream, but none with Captain Hook being played by Jude Law. Until now!

Peter Pan & Wendy is the latest live-action reimagining of a Disney animated classic coming to Disney Plus. It stars Alexander Molony as Peter Pan, Ever Anderson as Wendy, Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell, Jim Gaffigan as Smee, and the Young Pope as the ticking alarm clock-fearing pirate (who looks like a Mike Myers character in the trailer above).

Law is the second best reason to watch Peter Pan & Wendy. The best? The movie is directed by David Lowery, who also made A Ghost Story, The Old Man & the Gun, and The Green Knight. He also directed Pete’s Dragon, the best of the Disney live action “remakes.” Weird career!

And, as the trailer progresses, Wendy, her two brothers, Tinker Bell and Peter Pan jump off of London’s Big Ben in a scene that draws parallels to the original film.

“It looks very far away,” Michael Darling, one of Wendy’s brothers, says apprehensively.

Disney has released the first trailer for Peter Pan & Wendy, a new live-action reboot of the 1953 animated film.

Newcomer Alexander Molony plays Peter Pan, a young boy who lives in Neverland and refuses to ever grow up. One night, he visits Wendy Darling (Ever Anderson) and her little brothers John (Joshua Pickering) and Michael (Jacobi Jupe) and takes them all to Neverland. There they encounter Tinkerbell (Yara Shahidi), a magical fairy who never leaves Peter’s side, the Lost Boys, Peter’s group of rogue children who also refuse to grow up, and Captain Hook (Jude Law), a dastardly pirate with a vendetta against Peter.

The cast also includes Jim Gaffigan as Mr. Smee, Hook’s righthand man, Alan Tudyk as George Darling, Molly Parker as Mary Darling, and Alyssa Wapanatahk as Tiger Lily, a warrior princess of Neverland who is the daughter of the Chief.

The Green Knight helmer David Lowery directs from a screenplay penned by him and Toby Halbrooks, from a story adapted from both Disney’s original Peter Pan and the original book by J.M. Barrie. Producer Jim Whitaker (Pete’s Dragon) says the film will differ from other adaptations in that it is grounded in realism – but that it will also be a “big, rollicking adventure, too” (H/T peter-pan-live-action-disney-film-david-lowery-petes-dragon-1201736940/” data-ylk=”slk:Deadline;elm:context_link;itc:0″ class=”link “Deadline).
