Anna Delvey’s ex-lawyer held in contempt for withholding records

A Manhattan judge Tuesday granted fake German heiress Anna Sorokin’s request to hold her former lawyer in contempt for allegedly withholding court records.

Justice Arthur Engoron gave Audrey Thomas one week to hand over the documents to Sorokin — aka Anna Delvey — who says she needs the records to fight her criminal conviction and deportation case. If Thomas doesn’t comply with the March 1 deadline, Engoron said, he’d order her to pay Sorokin’s attorney’s fees in the case.

During a hearing held over video Tuesday, Sorokin’s lawyer Duncan Levin told the judge his client is currently on house arrest and “she has no way of fighting her immigration issues and her substantive appeal.”

The 32-year-old “Soho Grifter” filed suit against Thomas in September 2022 for allegedly violating a July 27 court order to transfer the court files to her by Aug. 5.

Thomas — who was later disbarred for stealing $630,000 from a client in 2013 — has not filed any court papers in the lawsuit, nor has any lawyer appeared on her behalf in the case. She was not present at Tuesday’s hearing.

After the hearing Tuesday, Levin told The Post, “It’s reprehensible that we have to go to such enormous lengths to get something very simple — which is Anna’s court file.”

“We need it to be able to complete her appeal and fight for her to stay in the United States,” Levin said. “This is absolutely unnecessary and it’s beyond comprehension that Ms. Thomas refused to turn these documents over to my client.”

In an email, Thomas said: “I have no knowledge of any contempt order.”

“I was not served with any motion and I am sick and

Anna Sorokin’s ex-lawyer wheeled out on stretcher during hearing

A court hearing in Anna Sorokin’s lawsuit against her ex-lawyer was thrown into chaos Friday after the sobbing former jurist slumped to the floor saying she couldn’t breathe, and an ambulance was called.

A polished-looking Sorokin — aka Anna Delvey, the subject of Netflix’s “Inventing Anna” — was in court seeking to hold her former lawyer Audrey Thomas in contempt, and have her fined $1,000 a day for allegedly withholding court records that Sorokin needs to fight her conviction and deportation cases.

Thomas broke down in tears and collapsed onto the courtroom floor, crying out: “I can’t do this! I’m going to fall apart! Help me! Please!”

“My heart is hurting me! I need an ambulance!” she sobbed. “Please, please! I can’t breathe!”

The hearing was halted and an ambulance called for Thomas — who was wheeled out of the courtroom on a stretcher before the hearing resumed.

The dramatic episode came after Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron denied a request to postpone the contempt hearing because Thomas’ lawyer said he couldn’t come to court because of a broken ankle.

Thomas — who was disbarred last year for allegedly stealing $630,000 from a client in an unrelated case — said she couldn’t represent herself because of her own health issues.

Anna Delvey’s ex-lawyer COLLAPSES in court and is taken away in ambulance as she fights deportation

Anna Delvey’s former lawyer dramatically collapsed in court Friday as the fake German heiress continues to sue for court records to aid her deportation battle.

Delvey, 32, real-name Anna Sorokin, is facing off against her former attorney Audrey Thomas in Manhattan Civil Court, who she claims is withholding court records that the convicted fraudster needs to fight her deportation case.

And as proceedings got underway, Thomas broke down in tears, crying out: ‘My heart is hurting me! I need an ambulance!’

After a brief delay while the former attorney was wheeled out of the courtroom on a stretcher, Sorokin emerged victorious as the judge ordered Thomas to hand over the documents.

Thomas was previously disbarred for financial crimes last year, and has threatened to write a tell-all book about her troubled former client.

The courtroom drama came as Delvey is embroiled in an ongoing legal battle with Thomas, who she claims withheld recordings of her deportation hearings as she holds a ‘vendetta’ against her.

The 32-year-old – who was the subject of the Netflix show ‘Inventing Anna’ – claims Thomas violated a July 2022 court order to transfer documents to her new attorney, according to Manhattan Supreme Court filings.

Sorokin’s latest attempt to hold the former lawyer in contempt was disrupted after Thomas collapsed and fell into tears on the courtroom floor.

She cried after claiming to struggle for breath, screaming, ‘I can’t do this, I’m going to fall apart! Help me, please,’ while begging
